Hilton Head Island (HHI) holds a lot of memories for James and me both at different times in our lives and now together.
James and his family began an annual trek to HHI back when James was just a young lad and continued until he was in high school. His family owned a condo in Sea Pines plantation. James worked several summers in a row at the ice cream shack at the Sea Pines lighthouse.
I began going to HHI in the mid 90's after acquiring a timeshare unit located in Shipyard plantation. Several family members joined me there over the years. Now, James and I try to get there every year and enjoy new and interesting sites every single time.
In 2007 we did a day trip to the beautiful area of Beaufort and enjoyed the fact that the city council refuses to let their downtown strip get populated by the national chains that are allowed to clog the landscape of many other not so caring cities.
We also went to Savannah and accidently found a very cool BBQ place in this alley of a street called Angels BBQ. They were playing Ramones and James was hooked and the food is great too.
In 2008 we did another trip to Savannah but this time just for lunch at Angels. We took are friends Yvette and Roger who were there for a meeting.
In 2009 we did a day trip to Charleston. Great place and want to go back soon. We forgot our camera in the car and it rained like crazy. We had a good time despite that.
